Compared with traditional nickel-cadmium batteries, nickel-metal hydride batteries do not contain toxic cadmium, offer higher energy density, and provide superior environmental performance. Compared with lithium-ion batteries, nickel-metal hydride batteries exhibit greater safety and resistance to misuse; even under conditions of overcharging, deep discharging, or mechanical impact, they are less likely to catch fire or explode.
